| One
congregation meets at St. Andrew's (the ancient
Parish Church of Clevedon) situated near the coastal
Poets' Walk and on the edge of a large area of modern
housing but with some old properties from the original
Clevedon nestling near the Church.
Another congregation uses
St. Peter's Church in Alexandra Road near the Pier.
In the 19th century St. Andrew's became stranded
on the outskirts of the town and a daughter church,
St. Peter's, was built to serve those living nearer
the centre of the town. The original tin building,
dedicated in May 1899 was replaced by the present
light, airy, comfortable one in 1960.
Christchurch, at the top of
Chapel Hill leading from The Triangle, has been
associated with St. Andrew's and St. Peter's since
1994. Built in 1839, it became home in 2005 to a
Methodist-Anglican Ecumenical Partnership when members
of the former Christ Church Anglican congregation
and Linden Road Methodist Church joined together.
The new congregation is now known as Christchurch.
This is an exciting step for all concerned as those
from the Methodist Church left their building and
everyone will be worshipping at Christchurch. |
